Fire Note Says: California blues garage rock never sounded so smooth!
Album Review:
Previously described as “the perfect hybrid of LA rock and classic British rock", southern California’s The Shys have just released their sophomore album You’ll Never Understand This Band The Way I Do, which is full of in your face bluesy rock n roll that leaves it all on table with nothing to hide. The Shys actually use a bit of a surprise factor to new listeners as you start the record because the opening instrumental track “Spanish Village By The Sea” is very subtle, so it throws you for a complete loop when the ripping guitar kicks off “The Hangman” and really starts your journey to tear it up with The Shys. You’ll Never Understand This Band The Way I Do has big sing-out loud choruses in songs like “She’s Already Gone” and no nonsense ballads in “I’m On Your Side”. The band has stated that classic artist such as The Kinks, Dylan, and The Beatles along with more current rock troubadours like Jack White have influenced their music. After just one spin of You’ll Never Understand This Band The Way I Do those artists great characteristics shine out of The Shys music, which combined with their fresh energy makes this album one that won’t leave the player for awhile!
