Ramblin' Jack Elliott: A Stranger Here

Fire Drill Review:
Ramblin' Jack Elliott has been on the folk scene since the late '50s, and the now 77 year old shows he has not lost a step with his new release A Stranger Here. It is nice to know and a bit hard to believe that an artist that influenced Dylan and traveled with Woody Guthrie, can still put out a solid record and sound like he is 27. A Stranger Here has a timeless appeal as Elliott interprets country blues music from the Depression era, which he was born into. Elliott gives these 10 tunes true soul and essence, as he sings songs that given the state of our economy - hit closer to home then one might think. The record was produced by Joe Henry (Bettye LaVette, Solomon Burke, Elvis Costello) who handled everything just right and was the creative force behind getting Elliott into this project - that was a bonus for all who hear this record!

Key Track: "Death Don't Have No Mercy"

Band With Similar Fire: Bob Dylan
